i was all set to upload a million pictures from mary's bridal shower, but roomie and i convinced cody to bring us dinner {we supplied the drinks} and had an impromptu mtv movie awards viewing party.

best week {slash, interview} ever.

i loooooove michelle collins and her charming writing for best week ever's vh1 blog {and her personal blog --not updated since '07, much to my despair-- called you can't make it up}

she was hilariously obsessed with adam lambert during idol season {for the magical being that he is}, and conducted the absolute funniest interview on earth with him last week. seriously, cherish this link because you'll cry tears of joy.

{p.s. m.collins slang alert : be-fris = best friends.}

part deux.

{update: for part 1, click here!}

i had to refrain from posting all 400 images, i just enjoy a good circus theme THAT much.

the girls were champs with styling/costume changes in the beautiful pier bathroom and posing with construction workers jeering and foreign tourists pointing. haha.

the circus.

too many fun pictures, so i am posting in 2 parts. aren't the girls amazing models? pier 39 is the best backdrop.

part 2 tomorrow! {update : it's here!}

etsy post up!

jess chamberlain's guest curator post is live here! she has some amazing etsy finds...i had to refrain from scooping up all of them.

i am sifting through 400 pictures from the carousel shoot and love them so far!  here's an early fave.

Tuesday, May 26, 2009

i am wildly excited for a photo shoot i'm doing tomorrow. i looove vintage-y circus-looking things, so we're headed to the carousel at pier 39, which i scoped out this weekend.

i'm making my models {aka my friends} dress up, and i'm bringing along a few fun accessories. yesterday i tested out my humongous flower headband to see how it would look in an antique portrait.

{note: i did not leave the house wearing 8 inches of white crazy flowers.}

results --hopefully fabulous ones-- coming later this week!

pier 39.

we spent yesterday down at pier 39, freezing our buns off in the icy wind that loves to invade san francisco when the rest of the world is toasty.

one of our childhood traditions from sf visits is picking out a bag of the delicious saltwater taffy.

the other tradition is looking at the sea lions {actually, correction: listening to the loud, melodic grunts of the sea lions}. the babies are the cutest.

we found a wind shield and enjoyed some taffy. favorite flavors: rasberry lemonade and root beer.  mmm.

lazy monday.

i took my sister to the airport at 6:30am...
and have accomplished absolutely nothing since then.

{for the record, nothing = coffee + a week's worth of reality tv via DVR}

the bachelorette and i sincerely hope you're enjoying your day off as well.

we just saw wicked at the orpheum.

it was amazing!

i especially loved learning how the tin man, scarecrow, and cowardly lion came to be.

more updates from this happy long weekend coming soon.

model friends : jess

i have been SO excited to post some pictures from a weekend shoot i did with the lovely jess chamberlain.

jess is a writer for sunset magazine and their home blog, and also guest blogs for some really fabulous sites like design*sponge.  she will soon be a guest curator for etsy's storque, so she asked me if i could take some new head shots so she'd have a good current pic.

despite saturday being the hottest, windiest, most ridiculously difficult day of the year, we got some gorgeous shots {doesn't hurt that she is absolutely stunning}.

i have about 100 shots that look like the below because i kept telling the worst jokes. {example: what did the fish say when he ran into the wall?  DAM!}  i love this sequence though:

it was so much fun shooting and catching up - for every minute spent posing/photographing we spent twice as many chatting about everything under the sun.

jess is also a photographer and taking nicole's 101 class, so even i got some time in front of the lens - woo!

i'll post the link to her etsy guest curator posts soon!  thanks for such a fun day, jess!

two nights of my super-insane-super-fun weekend
involved jessica's bachelorette party.

when all of your college girls are in the same place...
you don't really need words, do you?

i'm going to have to recap my weekend in reverse order, as i am so exhausted i hardly remember what happened 5 minutes ago, let alone 3 days ago.

sunday was tim lincecum bobblehead day, which was basically a national holiday in the minds of giants lovers like me and codes.  we got to park at noon - for a 5:15pm game - to line up with the other thousands of psychos.

we brought dice, cards, a picnic lunch, and even managed to not get caught by park staff drinking some beer {i'm assuming that they were also intoxicated since it was also bay to breakers day}. cody made friends with the elderly line neighbors while i tried not to pee my pants or die from the 95-degree heat.

once we got inside, i had a minor heart attack over the excitement of opening the bobblehead box. cody took about 15 pictures of this process and i sure look joyful.

what a little stud!

and then 5 hours after we got there, the game finally started. haha.
  giants win, bobblehead was secured, and we are officially proclaiming ourselves superfans for our devotion.

heat wave

it. is. so. hot.

san francisco is unprepared for these extreme temps.  one hour-long sweaty bus ride later and i'm sprawled out in my oven-like apartment wondering if i should go sit in my car, just for the A/C.

this weekend involves 2 nights of bachelorette party, 2 giants games, 2 nba game 7s, 1 photoshoot, and oh yeah, bay to breakers.

i may not make it.

as a parting note please see zaza in her giants hat in the legends club at today's giants game. amazing.

monte carlo night

last night we went down to gorgeous city hall for the 7th annual monte carlo night, benefitting the leukemia & lymphoma society.

we did extremely well gambling our fake money, and even took a whirl at roulette and craps {which is truly TERRIFYING, and makes me wonder how people are ok with the pressure of throwing the dice in vegas when real money is at stake.  ANYWAY...}.

after a night of wandering around marble floors in 4-inch heels, we were exhausted.  but thank you to our darling friends josh and knox who brought us along for such a fun night!

ever since i had this assignment in photo class, i find myself staring at EVERYTHING and mentally framing it with an invisible camera.  the other day i was running an errand for my roomie (picking up her credit card that we left behind getting mexican takeout...obviously more concerned about our salsa than our plastic) and i thought to bring my camera.

i saw some of the most beautiful flowers along fences in a little alley off of buchanan st.  just lovely.

there is a magical place on polk street called

{the red devil lounge}

and at this place, i may or may not have the time of my life with kelly stew drinking cheap cocktails, watching men in plaid suits sing cover songs, and meeting boys who look like chuck bass.

and that above list may not lead me to make this face:

it's pretty amazing.

and then we all go home.
