a tahoe neighborhood walk

the other day my sis, brother-in-law and i took a long walk around the tahoe neighborhood. it was so peaceful and quiet under the HUGE blanket of snow - up to our thighs in some parts! from the geese to the coyotes {eek} there has been plenty of wildlife to see among the pretty houses. and now it's a toss-up for me on when the keys are the most beautiful, summer or winter. i think i'm turning into a snow girl!

merry christmas!

a glimpse of our wonderful christmas eve in lake tahoe. and guess what...santa came! {and my 5-year-old niece gave me the one direction CD, which was the soundtrack to our morning - yessss!}

merry christmas, and enjoy your day with family & friends! xo

snowballs galore

the family that plays together stays together, right? {what about the family that throws snowballs into each other faces?}

this was the first time the girls have seen snow, and they loved it. almost as much as auntie. ;)

a majorly white christmas

when i prayed for a white christmas, i didn't anticipate a weekend of NONSTOP snow! it makes it slightly difficult to take clear photos outside {especially with my constant giggling with absolute glee}, but i am pretty much in heaven!

we've done some decorating {see andy the antlers above}, some game nights + baileys {our family tradition} and lots of warming up by the fire. tomorrow's post will feature some epic snowball fight photos!

this morning...

we made it to tahoe after some serious drama yesterday...flat tires, bad weather, getting trapped in a parking garage {...yeah}.

today is a full on SNOW STORM! yes! i am so excited. so many more photos to come!

my favorite christmas present

is it weird that i already know my favorite christmas gift of 2012? it happened in october, and it was absolutely magical.

when my beloved giants made the world series, cody and i had talked about getting tickets to a game, but they were SO outrageously expensive {in the thousands!}. the day of Game 1 we nervously chatted about verlander vs. zito over IM at work, as we watched ticket prices on stubhub drop and drop.

with a 5pm start time, we started getting serious about going around 3pm. making the promise that this could be our christmas gift to each other, we pulled the trigger around 4:10 on a paid of awesome club level seats that were the cheapest we could imagine. that's when it turned into "ohhhh crap, i have to zoom over the bay bridge and get to sf!"

one $75 parking pass later {YIKES} and we were in! my psychotic expression in the first picture says it all. after panda's first home run, we looked at each other and said "totally worth it."

and then he hit another home run.

and then another.

omg. this was the game of my lifetime. i can't believe we were there! and a few short days later, they clinched it in detroit. hallelujah {and merry christmas in october!}

holiday linkfest

as i'm spending my days frantically trying to finish work by friday, i thought i'd share a few of my favorite holiday links:

1. do you use spotify? allow me to share my pop christmas mix. warning: lots of bieber.
2. i'm completely in LOVE with chelsea's holiday cards. so unique and fun.
3. i check all things lovely every day for her stunning holiday party/NYE outfit boards. i would wear every single one!
4. when i thought i couldn't love emily henderson any more, she did a navy/pink/metallic christmas theme in her house. it's gorgeous.
5. natalie struck a nostalgic cord in me when she posted this tutorial for making cinnamon ornaments. i so remember these from girl scouts.
6. i am strangely fascinated by this pioneer woman recipe. do i have 3 hours to devote to jello-making? probs not, but i liked reading about it.

snow style

for the first time in a LONG time, i will be spending some serious time in the snow! {i guess london snow didn't really count...it was beautiful but melted into sludgy brown when it hit the pavement...ew.}

with my parents staring at this gorgeous view from their window, the next couple weeks are going to be chilly for our fam! here are my favorite christmas-y cold weather picks from all my online browsing.

family photoshoot : cutting down the christmas tree!

this shoot wins the award for the most unintentional comedy EVER during a session. i met this sweet family at a christmas tree farm to document them cutting down their tree. we kept canceling the shoot due to rain, so we were SO excited when the clouds broke and we could squeeze it in before the sun set.

well you know what happens after a week of rain? MUD! so after little brooke plopped in the mud {in her cute white outfit, of course}, i managed to slip and bail down a hill, coating my entire lower half, and then poor mom & dad just got sprinkled with it trying to help everyone. super, super glamorous (and totally worth it for such cute christmas photos). :)

bridal tea!

san francisco is typically the most gorgeous in the fall, and it was no exception for misha's bridal tea. stina hosted in her family's ahhhmazing home, with stunning views from the roof deck out onto the palace of fine arts and golden gate bridge.

all the details were perfect, the food to die for, and the champagne {and tea, naturally} flowing! not to mention the games...hilarious.

can't wait for the wedding -- in costa rica! -- in february.

12 days of blogging

on the first day of christmas, kelly gave to me...a blog that is not aban-doned!

whoopsie on this inadvertently long blog break! i have just been hoarding so many fun things this fall that i should really get back to sharing. i thought doing 12 days of christmas could be fun, {& motivating} leading up to the big day.

so on this day, your partridge in a pear tree, i just have to share the illustrations from my christmas cards:

artist james keniston sells his gorgeous illustrations of houses in san francisco, and this year did a special series for christmas. aren't they sweet? i love how unique these are, and it makes me smile to think of my friends across the country seeing my little sf christmas. check out his other work here.
